So, what's so special about this Almalogue?
Well, aside from the embossed leather covers, the medallion sculpted by Academy Award winning Weta Workshop, the hand crafted antiqued and aged box and of course the amazing content, Clarke has chosen to create and personally number no more than 1950 and then "sign off". There will never be anymore of these ever produced. Even the printer's plates are destroyed.
That makes these a rare book before they've even been sold. All the combined resources in this project have been invested in something that very few can ever own. There will be no other mass published copies of this Almalogue ever produced.
Once they are sold that means they're gone, that is unless of course you can twist someone's arm to on-sell on the secondary market. Eventually each piece finds a real home and from that time on appreciates in value for the true collector. Owners like these would only ever part with great reluctance. In the beginning you may have some traders, these are people that have the eye for an opportunity, they buy up and hold for a while but before long they're usually trading at a profit in the secondary market place. The real value of course is realized when eventually these have all sold and found "real homes", the real collectors and investors have made their purchase as they see true value in the piece as something worth owning of great future value. This is what delights auction houses in years to come.
The content of this Almalogue: Alveridgea and the Legend of the Lonely Dog is more than a story, it contains poetry, music, folklore, character sketches, profiles, maps, artifacts and even contains torn-out newspaper articles, postcards, menus and fashion clippings. This Almalogue has been created as the foundation content for development as a major multi-media entertainment property in true "Houndish" fashion.
